Capablanca Scholastics Summer Grand Prix Series

Want to keep your kids mentally challenged this Summer? Want your child to practice what he/she has learned in her school or club while making lot of friends that share their same interest for chess? Want your child to develop some time management skills? Want your child to continue growing in the chess world? Or Want your child to learn to handle losses as graciously as wins?

Then come and join us in the Capablanca Scholastics Summer Grand Prix Series. Florida Blue and Capablanca Chess Academy invite our members to compete in this series of 3 tournaments. A player can play in any number of them. Tournament results will be computed based on scores from all tournaments played at the end of the third tournament.

Playing in tournaments is a test stone for a serious chess player. It marks the beginning of a wonderful journey.

Rated Under 8, U12, U16, U18 Open

Unrated U8
Sections with fewer than 12 players may be combined at the TD’s discretion.
Age: as of January 1, 2018.

6 rounds (2 rounds each Saturday) Swiss pairings. Time controls G/30;d5 (30 minutes per player 5 second delay)
Games are USCF rated.

Posting of pairings onsite: 11:15am
Rounds 1-2:  9:00am and 10:00 am

If a player doesn’t show up at the start time of the first round (9:00am), the clock will be started. The game will be rated. If the player doesn’t show up at the end of the first round, he/she will be withdrawn from the tournament.


1st Trophy (plus a free 1-hour class with a GM)
2nd Trophy (plus a free 1-hour class with a GM)
3rd Trophy/Medals (plus a free 1-hour class with a GM)
Players score 2.5 or more Capablanca Chess Academy Scholarship 10% off tuition
